Abstrakt: The article analyzes the Uranium-Lead (U-Pb) and Lutetium-Hafnium (Lu-Hf) isotopes in zircons from the orthogneiss and paragneiss units of the Greater Himalayan Sequence (GHS), as well as from the Lesser Himalayan Crystalline Sequence (LHCS) in the Garhwal region of India. It then compares the U-Pb and Lu-Hf data from the Garhwal region to the data taken from various source regions in Gondwanaland for a clearer understanding of the tectonic provenance of the Himalayan Metamorphic Core (HMC).
