An earlier article reported the findings of a research study on how practice teachers viewed and experienced their enhanced responsibilities for providing learning opportunities for, and assessing the competence of, students to practise social work law. Questions were raised about the degree to which practice teachers and their agencies could meet the Central Council for Education and Training in Social Work's requirements that students have opportunities to apply and deepen their understanding of legislation in practice, and are competent to work in accordance with statutory and legal requirements. This paper reports additional findings on practice teachers' views of academic and practice curricula, and on competence and assessment. Then, a number of themes common to both articles are discussed, together with a proposal for a post-qualifying programme which would enable academic tutors and practice teachers to become better equipped to teach social work law in either the academic or the practice setting.
