Abstrakt: As the Atlantic Ocean grows smaller and smaller, professionals on either side have greater and greater opportunities-and responsibilities-for an exchange of ideas. In order to develop the most effective means of information dissemination, librarians themselves must keep informed of problems and improvements in information accessibility. Project INISS is a major study of information users in British social services departments. Having found that field workers generally do not use the standard resources, the authors here discuss the difficulties and alternatives for making information available, as well as implications for librarianship.
