Abstrakt: This article reports a program in which in-service training in rational-behavioral group counseling was delivered to “frontline” Bureau of Prisons staff by institution psychologists and consultants from the local community. Training focused on conducting time-limited, structured groups. After 21 sessions, paraprofessionals had attained a skill level adequate for conducting their own groups. Changes in inmate scores on the Irrational Beliefs Test were noted, indicating positive results of the group intervention. The article concludes with a discussion of the applicability of these procedures in training paraprofessionals to conduct other types of time-limited, structured groups. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
