The detailed modeling of the reburning process is in general a rather demanding task since it requires the description of both chemical reaction kinetics and fluid dynamics. In this work a model which couples a detailed kinetic mechanism to a simplified description of the fluid dynamics of the reburning chamber was developed. The model reliability was assessed by comparing its predictions with several sets of experimental data reported in the literature. It was found that detailed kinetic modeling is essential to attain a satisfactory description of the process. The obtained results also show that these reacting systems exhibit apparent time constants which depend strongly on the fluid dynamics of the reactor. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER] |
