Abstrakt: Knowledge of dietary habits and related factors is critical to the development of workable nutrition intervention programs. A survey of 5th, 8th and 11th grade Taipei school children gathered data on the following variables: food intake, eating patterns, behavior, and demographics. The relationships among these variables are shown by statistical analysis of the data. Significant associations were found between sociodemographics and food frequencies, behavior and food frequencies, and eating patterns and sociodemographics. Sociodemographic factors yielded the most significant relationship to food frequencies, a possible indication of the increasing wealth of Taipei citizens. The results suggest a shift away from traditional Chinese foods. The implications of these changing food habits are discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
