Learning experiences in geriatric training in family practice residencies can vary as to site, duration, faculty and other factors. To determine the relative value of these learning experiences, 183 experienced practicing physicians caring for geriatric patients were each sent a survey questionnnaire. The questionnaire asked for a relative rating of the various options in geriatric training. The results indicate that family practice faculty members need to be active teachers of geriatrics. The results also suggest that family practice centers nursing homes, and home visits should be utilized as teaching sites. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER] |
