As many academic libraries continue to redefine positions in response to budget cuts, downsizing, outsourcing, technology and the incorporation of electronic resources, the effects on managers and team leaders in bibliographic access services are overwhelmingly shifting from day-to-day hands-on experience to primarily administrative. At Lehigh University the only serials cataloger was reassigned to a team leader's position, which left no other professional serials catalog librarian in the department at a time when the library began canceling print subscriptions and acquiring electronic journals. This paper will discuss the changing roles, responsibilities and challenges the team leader experienced and its effect on the copy cataloging of serials. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER] |
