Abstrakt: This study compared an abstract visualization approach with a concrete sequential approach for developing visual literacy among academically able learners. Gains in visual literacy were measured, and results examined using 2× 2 analysis of variance. A concrete, sequential approach was found to be more effective than an abstract visualization approach. There is a need for more research on visual literacy among the gifted, for additional test development for measuring this area, and for greater awareness on the part of educators of visual thinking skills and their benefits.
