Abstrakt: The electromagnetic effect, Fvector = (Ivector × Bvector )l, Evector = (Vvector × Bvector )l, for a conducting fluid in a duct is studied as an acoustic transducer. For the two acoustic ports and the electrical port, three-port parameters result that are functions of such physical parameters as the duct size, fluid conductance, wave speed in the duct, and magnetic flux density. To check the analytical model, salt water was used in a square duct of anodized aluminum. The 1.5 in. × 1.5 in. × 6 in. duct was placed in magnetic field that could be increased up to 0.8 webers/m2. Good agreement for the model was obtained over the range of 200-4000 Hz. Finally, source and receiving sensitivities and efficiencies are calculated. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
