The articles criticizes India's Right to Education (RTE) Act which was passed by the Indian parliament in 2009 and upheld by the Supreme Court in April 12, 2012. The Act requires all unaided schools to reserve 25% of their seats for under privileged children. The author says that the RTE penalizes the minority of private schools that offer good education while doing nothing to reform the majority of public schools. He adds that India's primary education is poor and the RTE act has not helped. |
