Abstrakt: It is proposed that the classical treatment that predicts the generation of a scattered wave of frequency (ω1 -ω2) as the result of the interaction of two plane elastic waves of frequencies ω1 and ω2 has its quantum mechanical analogy if a phonon-'splitting' process is considered.
