It is found that in the frequency range below 1000 cps, an approximately constant frequency difference (11-14 cps) is needed to obtain a just noticeable interaural difference in pitch; between 1000 and 1500 cps the limen rapidly increases. At 1500 cps, it amounts to some 60-75 cps, or 4-5%. The percentage sensitivity then remains constant up to some 2400 cps. Between 2400 and 3000 cps there is a second sharp rise of the limen, which reaches a value of 300 cps (or 10%) at the latter frequency. Between 3000 and 8000 cps, the percentage sensitivity remains constant at about 10%. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
