The article discusses an investigation into the December 11, 2005 explosion from a petroleum leak at the Buncefield fuel storage facility in Hertfordshire, England. Researchers looked at the structure and site of the depot to explain the extensive level of damage from the blast, finding that nearby hedgerows of trees and shrubs created turbulence pressure for the flames, causing them to accelerate and combust the cloud of gas vapour from the leak. |
