Abstrakt: In the fusion reactionsZr(Y, p)Pt andZr(Y, α)Ir the sum energy of all emitted γ rays as well as the energy of the promptly emitted charged particle were measured. From these data the mass-excess values for the evaporation residuesPt andIr were extracted to be Δ(Pt)=(−32.4±1.1)MeV/c and Δ(Ir)=(−32.0±1.2) MeV/c. The method provides absolute mass values for nuclides far from stability which can be produced in fusion reactions as evaporation residues in the 1 p or 1 α channel. The sources of the experimental uncertainties of the method are discussed, and the potential for considerable improvements is outlined. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
