Abstrakt: The karyotypes of the domestic cat and the tiger are presented. The diploid number for both species is 38. Autoradiographic studies on the cat chromosomes show that in females one X-chromosome is late replicating and in males the Y is late replicating. Other chromosomes bear late replicating segments.
