Abstrakt: A multicenter investigation was carried out, from January 1992 through January 1993, to study the incidence of abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) in patients submitted to chronic hemodialysis for end-stage renal disease. AAA affected 8.5% of 129 patients. Risk for AAA was higher in men aged more than 60 years with body height and weight greater than those of the general population. AAA was present in 19.3% (6/31) patients affected with autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease and in 5.1% (5/98) patients in whom renal insufficiency was due to other pathologies (p<0.02).
