Abstrakt: Modelling of the cardiac system is considered from two parallel points of view. A pulsatile mechanical heart is described and compared with a mathematical model. The two models complement each other in the understanding of blood flow in the cardiovascular system and its changes in various states of health of this system. Waveforms obtained with the mechanical heart agree reasonably well with those of a human heart. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
