Specific standard steps are described for the implementation of the Y1 mouse adrenal tumor cell line in evaluating the production of bacterial enterotoxins and cytotoxins. The importance of standardization of methods for Y1 cell culture, preparation of test materials, and interpretation of results is emphasized.
