The authors have developed a procedure for making chamotte lightweight artifacts with an apparent density of 0.3-0.7 g/cm by casting. Lightweight artifacts with the required structure and physicomechanical properties can be obtained by varying the amount of incorporated polystyrene and its limiting grain size. This procedure gives low-shrinkage lightweight artifacts which need no mechanical treatment after roasting. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
