Tests showed that zircon batcher inserts are more suitable in conditions of automatic continuous casting of tool steels into ingots of small cross section. Wear and tightening up of the inserts were not observed, and casting can be carried out practically at a constant rate. The alumina-silicon carbide batcher inserts were eroded during casting. The increase in the diameter of the working channel made it necessary to increase the rate of ingot drawing. Projects to improve the technology for the production of alumina-silicon carbide inserts need to be continued. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
