From butadiene-naphthoquinone adducts we prepared 1,2,3,4,4a,9a,-hexahydro-10-hydroxyanthrones with a 4a,9a,10-cis-cis configuration and with various functional groups in the 2- and 3-positions that are necessary for the further synthesis of compounds allied to natural 6-demethyltetracyclines.
