The article presents information on a study related to the treatment of complex regional pain syndrome (CPRS) which can develop after fractures, or lesions in the peripheral or central nervous system (CNS). As stated, changes in the CNS can lead to motor and sensory impairments in CPRS patients. According to the article, mirror therapy can be beneficially used for acute stages of CRPS type I but not in chronic CRPS. The effectiveness of graded motor imagery for CPRS treatment is also discussed. |
