Abstrakt: A method for calculating the hydrophobic bond energy (HPE) of a nonpolar molecule at room temperature was presented by assuming that the whole HPE is the sum of HPE of each group or atom composing the molecule. This method was applied to Β-ionone and 11- cis retinal and those HPE's were found to be considerable. Some comparison of the present method with Chothia's method was made. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
