Case histories of five patients are presented who developed severe postural hypotension after being treated with guanacline. The postural hypotension did not develop until treatment had been given for 3-4 months and has persisted following withdrawal of guanacline for 12-15 months. It is suggested that this drug causes irreversible depletion of noradrenaline stores in adrenergic nerve terminals in some patients. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
