Abstrakt: The article presents a study on the characterization of shade avoidance responses in Lotus japonicas, based on the fact that its phyllotoxins is quite different from that on the Arabidopsis thaliana. The study found that L. japonicas show the characteristic shade avoidance syndrome (SAS) which mimic natural canopy. It adds that the growth of L. japonicas in the shade was severely inhibited by the outgrowth of axillary buds.
