Abstrakt: In the period 1954 to 1967, 71 nephropexy operations were carried out at the Urological Department of the University of Halle/Saale. Guided by the relevant case histories a comment is given on the problem whether there are still indications for fixation of the kidneys today. In this connection, taking into account etiology, symptomatology, and the diagnostic measures available, factors are stressed to justify the elimination of nephroptosis. By means of a modified method after Rehn, the further justification of nephropexy is emphasized by the analysis of immediate and after-results obtained by the authors. Careful balancing of indication and contraindication, and postoperative measures for exclusion of other accompanying diseases of the uriniferous ducts are decisive for permanent results, and free the disease from the suspicion of being a fashionable one.
