Abstrakt: The kinetics of the reaction between [ReN(HO) (CN)] and cyanide has been studied in the ca. pH 8-14 range. The aqua ligand in the [ReN(HO)(CN)] complex is substituted by both CN ions and HCN according to the following reaction: At 25° C and μ = 1.0 (KNO), the equilibrium, forward and reverse rate constants of the reaction with CN ions were determined as 601(69) m, 7214(411) m s and 12(6) s, respectively, and the forward rate constant for HCN as 3.9(7) × 10 ms.
