The kinetics of oxidation of L-ascorbic acid (HA) by [Fe(CN)] have been studied in water-alcohol mixture. The kinetic rate law conforms to the equation kK,k and kK were evaluated graphically in regions of different hydrogen ion concentrations and the [H] corresponding to minimum rate in rate pH profile was calculated to be in good agreement with the experimental value. The effects of ionic strength, solvent and temperature on the rate of the reaction have also been analyzed and interpreted. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
