Abstrakt: The article presents the results of a study which investigated the advantages of using the Smith machine for strength and hypertrophy-oriented training. An overview of related previous research is provided, detailing the potential increased risk of user injury due to the limited straight-line motion of the barbell. Details of the experiment protocol are also presented, including the measuring of biomechanical force transference and reductions in force output as a function of fatigue.
