Microstructural changes in a piezoceramic in cyclic deformation.

Abstrakt: The influence of cyclic loading on the domain sructure of ferroelectric ceramic of the TsTS system was investigated by methods of transmission electron microscopy. It was observed that high-frequency cyclic deformation leads to partial depolarization of the material. This is most clearly expressed at points of application of the maximum mechanical stresses. A microstructural parameter with which may be characterized both the degree of damage and the polarized condition of the ceramic is proposed. On the basis of the results obtained a phenomenological description of the fatigue process in a piezoelectric ceramic is presented. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
