Abstrakt: The serum level of total, pancreatic and salivary amylase, together with the amylase / creatinine clearance ratios, were measured in a prospective study of 22 patients subjected to continuous extracorporeal perfusion. None of the patients had a raised serum pancreatic amylase while 6 patients (27%) had a raised salivary amylase. The group with raised serum amylase and the group with normal serum amylase levels had significantly raised clearance values for total, pancreatic and salivary amylase, with no evidence of clinical pancreatitis.
