The metabolism of the synthetic corticosteroid fluocortolone has been investigated following oral and intravenous administration to a ram. A total of 8 different metabolites, as well as the unchanged drug, were isolated from the urine and indentified by standard procedures. The major metabolic trnasformation occurred in the A ring although defluorination/hydroxylation at position 6 was also observed. A pathway has been proposed for the metabolism of this corticosteroid in the ram. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
