Abstrakt: | Serum osteocalcin (OC), serum alkaline phosphatase (ALP) and urine hydroxyproline (Hyp) were measured in normal children and patients with Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). Serum OC, ALP, and urine Hyp values were decreased in DMD patients (p<0.01). A significant correlation was found between serum ALP and OC values (Y=0.44X+2.33; r=0.78; p<0.05), and between urine Hyp and serum OC (Y=0.03X+0.33; r=0.56; p<0.05). Vertebral trabecular mineral density was measured in DMD patients using the quantitative computed tomography (QCT) method. Degree of severity of osteoporosis in DMD patients advanced with aging. No significant correlation was found between urine Hyp and QCT values (Y=0.02X+0.33; r=0.29; p>0.2) and a tendency of correlation was noted between serum ALP and QCT values (Y=0.05X+1.11; r=0.56; 0.05
