An electron-cytochemical osmium-ferricyanide technique has been applied in studies of mesophyll cells in Zea mays (L.), Secale cereale (L.) and Avena sativa (L.). Selective staining of chloroplast peripheral reticulum and the chloroplast envelope has been observed. These structural compartments of a chloroplast are presumed to participate in Ca-sequestration.
