Fractionation of proteins of mycelial cell free extracts from Saprolegnia monoica revealed the presence of two different (1.3) β glucanases. The most important fraction exhibited activity against laminarin and p. nitrophenyl BD. glucopyranoside. The other was active on both laminarin and oxidized laminarin. This endo-glucanase represented the main part of glucanase activities released during cell wall autolysis. Properties and cellular distribution of these enzymes are discussed in respect to their morphogenetic role in hyphal differentiation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
