Abstrakt: We present a patient with follicular thyroid carcinoma and multiple bone metastases who was referred for diagnosis and therapy. Radionuclide imaging (RI) and MRI were performed before and after therapy with radioiodine. On RI scan the locations of metastases were shown by radioiodine uptake. MRI of a femoral metastasis showed low signal intensity in T1-weighted sequences and some signal increase on T2-weighted sequences, almost identical to the signal behaviour of the normal thyroid gland. Hence, the signal intensity behaviour on MRI may yield some information on the differentiation of tumour metastases in thyroid carcinoma. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
