In this investigation the skeletal mineral content of 251 men in Wales and 310 men in Finland, considered by age groups, were assessed by a radiologic method. Comparison of these measurements established a statistically significant difference between these groups. The amount of cortical bone was greater in the Welsh subjects than in the Finnish in every age group. These results support a previous assumption that northern populations have less cortical bone than populations living nearer to the equator. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
