The article discusses various management strategies for acute respiratory distress syndrome, a severe form of respiratory failure. It explains the advantages and disadvantages of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation when used for management in adult patients. The article concludes that improvements in technology, portable machines and further trials are needed for extracorporeal membrane oxygenation to be used on patients. |
