The article focuses on the ear of dominant party politics in Turkey. Turkey's electoral rules favor the formation of dominant parties, the existence of such rules cannot fully explain the Justice and Development Party's (AKP) ability to draw an ever-rising vote share. Power has flowed the AKP's way and allowed it to play a major role in shaping Turkey's internal modernization and foreign policy. In the struggle between the globalists and the nationalists in Turkey, it is clear that the nationalists are losing. The carrying-out of a successful constitutional reform process in Turkey will also have implications for the Arab countries. |
