The article discusses the proposal to conserve Malaceae against Amygdalaceae (Magnoliophyta). It presents an analysis regarding the mentioned proposal wherein the classification scheme would result into a number of modifications to conform to the rules of botanical nomenclature. It notes that the conservation of Malaceae against Amygdalaceae would mandate Malus as the type of any name of a subdivision of a family when both Malus and Prunus are assigned to the same taxon of these ranks. |
