Abstrakt: The planning, purchasing and training for successful technology implementation and integration in school organizations continues to be a topic of great interest for school leaders at all levels. The purpose of this study was to examine the factors perceived by practicing school leaders that support the successful integration of technology in a large school district located in a south central state. Through the use of semi-structured interviews of 11 practicing central office administrators (n=1), principals (n=3), counselors (n=1), librarians (n=1), teachers (n=3), technology trainers (n=1), and technology facilitators (n=1), the author examined the application of successful characteristics associated with the effective implementation of technology in schools. Findings of the study suggest that (a) the adoption and use of a long-range plan, (b) the use of district policies and guidelines, (c) the development of a staff development plan, (d) the use of incentives to motivate teachers to attend trainings, and the (e) operation of a policy that allowed for teacher input contributed to the successful implementation and integration of technology in the classroom.
