Abstrakt: An essay on the novels "Things Fall Apart," by Chinua Achebe and "L'Amour, la fantasia," by Assia Djebar is presented. It compares the novels wherein the author reveals the debt that Djebar's novel displays regarding "Things Fall Apart" related to its discourse of silenced women. It explores how both authors sought to reinvent the image of Algeria in their respective novels which move between cultural assertion and cultural demystification.
