The article discusses the adoption by the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) of a policy requiring videotaping custodial interrogations of felony level crimes by the Criminal Investigative Division (CID) for the Army, Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) for the Navy and Marine Corps and Office of Special Investigations (OSI) for the Air Force. It examines the rationale underlying videotaping interrogations and traces the national movement in civilian jurisdictions. It suggests how the DoD should implement the unified policy. |
