Abstrakt: The author discusses understanding of World War II through reflections during the "Twentieth Century Warfare and American Memory" symposium held at Regis University in Denver, Colorado. He highlights his father Mynie Clayton's war experience and struggle of killing Germans and staying alive during the war. He asserts that war can not be conceived as good but terrifying. He concludes that World War II was a story not easy to tell for empathy and memory are obstacles toward the truth.
