In modern industrial societies, the concept of \"profession\" stands at the center of the whole economic system. While contributing to the stability of the social order through the functions it performs, a profession also provides a social status to the professional. At the roof of a profession is the concept of work and for a work to be accepted as a profession, there are certain social processes to be fulfilled. This reseach deals with the social processes required for the professionalization of public relations in Turkish context through a social psychological perspective. In this vein, the literature on the professionalization of public relations have been presented and then the standads of professionalization in public relations have been put to test by operationalization of social projection theory among the practitioners.
