Abstrakt: The operation of blast furnaces with a redesigned shaft, in which cooling is based on large cooled panels, is considered. The redesigned shafts prove more reliable and economically efficient than the traditional design (characterized by a housing, a cast-iron cooling plate, and a lining). At PAO MMK im. Il'icha, more than 100 mln t of hot metal has been smelted at the new blast furnaces. Experience shows that the new design extends the furnace run by a factor of 1.3-1.5, reduces the shaft's repair time by 4-6 days, and reduces repair costs by a factor of 5-8. Furnace productivity is increased by 1.5-2.0%, with decrease in coke consumption by 1.5-3.0%. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
