Abstrakt: The essay discusses the writings of British King Charles I, especially his book "Eikon Basilike", the cult of Charles I, and the Restoration poetic writings of women authors Katherine Philips and Mary Astell. Literary themes explored include parallels between the regicide of Charles I and the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ, virgins and virginity, and politics and literature.
