In this article the author discusses aspects of creative writing and the study of creative writing in the early 21st century. He addresses the democratization of writing through the use of digital media and social platforms such as blogging. The goals of the Association of Writers & Writing Programs (AWP) in examining changes in creative writing are addressed. The author also discusses the book "The Program Era: Postwar Fiction and the Rise of Creative Writing," by Mark McGurl. |
