The article presents information on the Transition to Independent Living (TIL) program in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, which aids local government efforts to support youths who are unemployed or homeless. TIL is a one-year paid internship program, that provides on-the-job training and mentoring to help youth acquire skills for self-sufficiency. The program also teaches employment skills and encourages interns to pass the general educational development (GED) test. |
